Yekini resurrects in Nairobi

Nigeria’s prolific goal scorer Rashidi
Yekini, resurrected Wednesday at the
Kasarani Sadium in Nairobi.

The late football star popularly known
as “ goals father “ was sorely missed by
Nigerian student Ayo Aderibigbe who
believed that Rashidi Yekini would have
made a difference in the match.
” Oga I am sure that you will agree with
me that if Rashidi Yekini was playing
today, Kenya would have been two goals
down by now”
The exclamation came as a result of
fluffed chances by the Eagles attacking
trio of Ideye, Oduamadi and Ahmed Musa.
Yekini
Ideye was the main culprit not having
enough to offer against a Kenya defense
that was jittery and uncoordinated in
the opening minutes of the match.
Ayo, schooling in Nairobi was a study in
nerves visiting the gents intermittently
even as the Kenyans made some sporadic
moves.
” Oga you know that if they score us
now, it is finished. We just have to
score first. In fact one goal is not
enough. We should have scored two by
now. Ah Yekini, may his soul rest in
piece…..” he screamed.
The Eagles attack did not also benefit
support services from the midfield of
Mikel, Onazi and Mbah, who although had
the control of the midfield did not
penetrate effectively deciding instead
to spray the passes around.
Just when Nigerians had settled down for
a possible draw, Ahmed Musa went solo,
darted after a clearance from his
defense line outpaced Brian Mandela in
the Kenyan rear before lobbying the ball
over goalkeeper Ochieng for the all
important strike.
