June 12 what- Usman

A former Presidential candidate of
the now rested National Republican
Convention, NRC, Alhaji Bashir Usman
Tofa has described the June 12
remembrance as a fiction, stressing
that it is a dead and forgotten
issue.

Tofa, while addressing newsmen in
Kano on Thursday, said the June 12
remembrance “ is for those who don’t
have anything to offer this country
that can still be talking about June
12 presidential election’.
The elder statesman
who contested against
Chief Moshood Abiola;
the acclaimed winner of June 12, 1993
controversial election that was
subsequently annulled by the then
Head of State, Ibrahim Badamosi
Babagida said, ‘I am not one of those
people that celebrate fiction, that
is the more reason why I don’t like
to be talking on June 12 presidential
election’’
Speaking further, Tofa hinted that
‘if you have learnt any lesson out of
its good , if you have not, keep
quiet , let this country make
progress, but for one to still be
talking about something that occurred
20 years ago is colossal waste of
time’’.
The Kano-born politician who
maintained that “we have more
problems than to be talking about
this. We want this country to survive
and people were still talking about
June 12 ‘.
Tofa who had earlier warned reporters
against mentioning June 12 as a
requirement for the interview said,
“people who have nothing to offer
this country or have nothing better
to say, can go on talking about June
12 , because they have nothing else
to say to help this country move
forward.”
