We are not for malaria- Yunusa

The Katsina State Environmental Protection Agency (KSEPA) has commenced the clearance of drainages and spraying anti-mosquito chemicals in all parts of the state.

According to the Executive Director of the agency, Alhaji Yunusa Charanchi,  the measure became necessary to control the outbreak of malaria.

He blamed poor and unhygienic environment as the cause of the outbreak of the disease.

"We have embarked on enlightenment campaign in collaboration with directors of health of all local government to educate people on proper cleaning of environment".

Charanchi said the state government had recruited enough personnel to go to all nooks and crannies to spray the mosquito chemicals into our drainages.

"We have also introduced monthly environmental sanitation to ensure maintenance of clean environment".

He explained that the state government was concerned with number of people that die as a result of malaria and would continue to adopt measures to control outbreak of the disease.

A mobile court had been introduced in seven old council areas to try offenders of the monthly sanitation exercise.

He called on people to always participate in the monthly sanitation exercise by ensuring clearance of all refuse in their areas.
