The Lagos State Government has rejected the Nano Silver drug being offered to treat patients showing symptoms of Ebola at a health facility in the State.
Commissioner for Health, Dr Jide Idris told journalists on Friday that the government had resolved not to use any other drug than the American ZMAPP for Ebola patients in its custody.
Dr. Idris said the Nano Silver drug being offered by a Nigerian scientist to the Government is a dietary supplement and although there was no evidence suggesting it was ineffective, it would prefer not to gamble with the lives of the patients.
“Should we have access to ZMAPP now, right away, we will start the administration on the patients.
“We are attending a meeting soon with the Task Force on Ebola to know if the ZMAPP drug is available as stated by the Federal government,” Idris said.
