Release our colleagues from detention Lady Students

Students of Lagos State University have appealed to Lagos State Government and the authority of LASU to free students, who are being victimised for their roles in the fight against fee hike in the institution.

In a statement by LASU Students Union President, Nurudeen Yusuf, the students also commended Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola for reversing the fee of the institution to N25,000.

Yusuf said the reversal of fee would restore the hope of thousands of Lagosians, who had previously been denied access to education.

He said, “Today we have set record in the annals of Students’ Movement in the World. We made possible the seemly impossible. We struggled and we have won! We have opened the gate of Lagos State University to Lagosians, Nigerians and the world at large.

“Our effort is inconclusive if we do not set free some of our people that have been incarcerated, victimised and brutalised including, Fatai Akintola, and other students facing trial in court. An injury to all is an injury to all.

“With our sweat, our blood, and our strength, we have contributed our own quota to be the change we wish to see in our world.”
